Great Days Golf is proud to announce the official launch of the Great Days Golf Inclusion Academy, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at making golf accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable for children and young adults with disabilities. This academy marks an exciting step forward in creating opportunities for individuals to experience the game of golf while fostering pathways for personal development and professional aspirations.
A Partnership for Change
The Inclusion Academy is built on strong partnerships with industry leaders who share our vision for inclusivity in sport:
- Philtronics: As a Premium Partner, Philtronics is playing a crucial role in supporting the Inclusion Academy’s mission. Their commitment to innovation and accessibility aligns perfectly with the Academy’s goals.
- Hensol Golf Academy: The state-of-the-art facilities at Hensol Golf Academy will serve as the official HQ for the Inclusion Academy. With top-class equipment and a fully equipped, floodlit range, Hensol offers the perfect environment for hosting bespoke sessions.
- Action for Children: As our chosen charity for the year, Action for Children will partner with us to ensure children from their residential centres and schools can benefit from the academy. Their involvement will enable us to bring golf to those who need it most, creating meaningful and lasting memories.
What to Expect
Over the next 12 months, the Inclusion Academy will hold six events as part of our Premium Partner series and four dedicated Inclusion Academy events hosted at Hensol Golf Academy. These sessions will provide children with tailored coaching, access to top-tier facilities, and an introduction to the joy of golf. Additionally, we will host two special eventsdirectly at Action for Children’s centres, ensuring accessibility for children who may not be able to travel.
Participants showing a passion for the game will have the opportunity to progress through clear pathways, connecting with local golf clubs and ultimately being introduced to the European Disability Golf Association (EDGA). This initiative not only provides a fun and inclusive experience but also creates real career opportunities in the sport.
Mike Jones at the Helm
The Inclusion Academy will be spearheaded by none other than Mike Jones, a trailblazer in adaptive golf and a recent winner of the first-ever EDGA Golf Senior Open. Mike’s personal journey, combined with his expertise and passion for inclusivity in golf, makes him the ideal leader for this initiative. He will oversee the sessions at Hensol Golf Academy, providing world-class coaching and mentoring to participants. His goal is to help young golfers develop their skills, foster their love for the game, and navigate pathways to professional opportunities.
Innovation and Collaboration
This initiative is further supported by the involvement of Disability Sport Wales, Sport Wales, and Wales Golf, ensuring that the Inclusion Academy benefits from the highest standards of accessibility and inclusivity. Together, we aim to remove barriers and open doors for children and young adults to participate in a sport that can change lives.
