Great Days Golf staged the annual MJW Memorial Classic in memory of the late Matthew J Watkins in May, the 2nd such event that has now been firmly cemented in the events calender and once again proved to be a huge success.
21 celebrities and former sportsmen gathered to play with clients and sponsors on the fantastic Machynys Peninsular course with former rugby union and rugby league legend Kevin Ellis eventually taking the spoils in the individual competition scoring 40 stableford points.
Many players who had played with MJ were present including Ian Gough, Shaun Connor, Garan Evans, Gareth Maule, Ryan Jones, Lee Byrne, Matthew Rees, Ben Breeze, Rupert Moon and Aled Brew - who won the Nearest The Pin competition on the tricky 11th Par 3.
Other former legends were also in attendance including Mike Ruddock, Martin Morris, Andy Booth, Alan Bateman, Stuart Davies and of course GDG’s very own Jonathan Davies who entertained everybody as usual after golf and food. Former Wales footballer Joe Ledley also came along to support, ending up in the winning team Wales Golf Holidays, who kindly donated multiple fourball prizes to help raise funds to support MJ’s wife and two boys.
