Machynys played host to its second GDG event of the month, cementing its place as our most visited venue this season, and with good reason. Bathed in sunshine and with rare calm conditions, the Nicklaus-designed course was the perfect setting for the inaugural Gavin Griffiths Charity Golf Day.
This event had everything, with unique twists adding to the fun. On the second hole, a skip was parked for our brand-new “Chip in the Skip” challenge. The tone for the day was set early when a young passer-by named Dexter took a shot by chance and, incredibly, holed it with his very first attempt to claim the prize.
Out on the course, golfers enjoyed all of our signature activities, with resident pro Hannah Bowen bringing the energy and entertainment on the 11th hole, complete with her famous collection of costumes. The mix of competition and laughs made for a brilliant day from start to finish.
After the golf, guests were treated to great food before Sean Holley delivered one of the all-time great charity auctions. In red-hot form as host, Sean and the room’s incredible generosity raised vital funds for Mind, a charity that delivers life-changing mental health support, advice, and information.
It was another Great Days Golf and a real highlight of the season.
