The 2024 season came to a spectacular close with the Captain Pirates Charity Golf Day on September 6 at Pontypool Golf Club. The day began with typhoon-like conditions, but as if by magic, the weather cleared, leaving calm skies and perfect golfing conditions. A huge thank you to the greenskeepers, who worked wonders in ensuring the course was in top shape for the event.
Sponsored by Sealability and Ian Ward Carpentry & Joinery, the day was dedicated to raising funds for the Great Days Golf Inclusion Academy, a project close to Mike Jones' heart that promises to provide exciting opportunities for children. The competition on the course was fierce, and it was D.E. Building Contractors who emerged as the victors of the day.
The evening entertainment was unforgettable, with comedian Rod Woodward delivering a performance that could have graced the Royal Variety Show, followed by Scott Quinell, whose rugby stories had everyone laughing as the 2024 season ended in style.
