Great Days Golf’s 5th Annual Sean Holley Charity Golf Day, held at the Grove Golf Club in Porthcawl proved to be the best yet as Sean fronted another golf day in aid of Velindre Cancer Centre and Tata CC Juniors.
The day turned out to be the hottest day of the year but all 88 golfers thoroughly enjoyed the day and were well hydrated by GDG staff! A mix of ladies and men with handicaps from as low as 5 up to 24 battled for prizes in a range of categories including Best Gross and Nett score, team events and novelty hole challenges – led by the entertaining Hannah Bowen.
The event was kindly sponsored by Headline Sponsor MCL Environmental and Mark Powell and his team has supported this event for the last few years. Mark Goodfield from Gallagher Insurance provided Hole in One prizes – which unfortunately nobody won – and there was also support from Cardiff Lock & Safe Company, Taibach Chiropractic and Ieuan Griffiths.
The guys from Riley Sports Photography and Buffoon Film and Media endured the weather to capture some great moments including some outstanding drone footage on such a nice day. These can be found in our GDG App. The event was also supported by Golf Day Printing, ND John Wine, Shaun Cosgrove, Rhayader Building Supplies with Sean even auctioning off a spirit level and an angle grinder for the charities!
Comedian Bob Webb entertained the guests and the staff and facilities at the Grove Golf Club as usual went over and above their duty to ensure it really was a Great Days Golf.
Kylie Parfitt of Velindre Fundraising said “Sean is one of our Ambassadors for Velindre and he continues to support us in any way he can. Any funds raised go a long way to helping the those who need treatment at our hospital. A huge thank you to Great Days Golf”. Paul Donovan of Tata CC, who played in one of three teams entered by the club commented, “This is always an awesome day and everyone has the best time with good golf but also a lot of laughs and camaraderie. Great Days Golf have really looked after us today and we will be back next year. The funds raised are very welcome to our club as they will ensure our juniors will have sufficient resources to continue their development next season.”
The date for next years GDG Sean Holley 6th Annual Charity Golf Day is Friday August 18th and teams can be booked here.
